Dear BBCOC Family,
Praise God! We made it into the year 2017 and are headed toward our third year together as pastor & members, by God’s grace! I’m grateful for the things God continuously does in our individual and collective lives and I am “Confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day Christ Jesus returns” Philippians 1:6 NIV.
I believe whatever we’re intentional about and committed to, we can and will do with God’s help. Having said that, I have been thinking about the number people who make and keep their commitment to physical fitness by rising early, exercising diligently, eating healthy, and getting adequate rest, in order to look and feel their best. Many hire personal trainers, join fitness facilities or weight loss programs, to ensure their success. I could not help but think what if, God’s people made the same level of commitment to their SPIRITUAL FITNESS by intentionally and diligently,
§ Rising early to seek God through prayer and personal devotion Psalm 63:1
§ Laying aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily hinders us, and run with patience the race that is set before us, Hebrews 12:1
§ Thinking only healthy thoughts, remembering, “Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.” Philippians 4:8
§ Getting adequate rest in Exodus 33:14 “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
§ Have an active relationship with your Bible knowing, “Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Matthew 4:4
§ Most importantly, allow the Holy Spirit to be your personal trainer!
