15-16 So be careful how you act; these are difficult days. Don’t be fools; be wise: make the most of every opportunity you have for doing good.
To waste is to use, squander, or expend foolishly, carelessly, extravagantly, to excess, or for no good purpose! Yet, every day, valuable human and natural resources are being wasted and it grieves God’s spirit!
Throughout scripture, Christ demonstrated both the importance and consequences of not being wasteful. In John 6:12 after feeding a multitude of five thousand men, Jesus instructed His disciples to gather up all the leftovers so that nothing would be wasted! It is true, when you waste not, you want not and perhaps the greatest example of this is the Parable of the Prodigal Son in Luke 15:11-32, who demanded his share of his fathers estate, took it, and went to a distant land where he foolishly and extravagantly wasted all his money until it was all gone, forcing him to return home destitute, hungry, and ashamed!
Whether it’s someone others do not consider salvageable, idleness in the church, mismanagement of resources, God uses everything for His glory, nothing and no one is ever wasted with Him!
Colossians 1:16bNIV says, “All things have been created through Him and for Him. We must wisely use all things God has blessed us with and Waste Not, Want Not.
God expects and requires us to be faithful, responsible stewards over everything He has gifted to us with; our lives, time, money, energy, and talents; all things that come from, belong to, and should be used for the glory of God and to bless others!
Blessings & Favor!
